WHAT: Sean Pratt Presents, “Tell Me a Story” on Tuesday, May 22nd, a class focusing on Audiobook Narration Technique.

Sean’s Class, Tell Me a Story – Audiobook Narration Technique from 7PM to 10PM. It will focus on:
•	In this audiobook version of an acting class, you’ll have the opportunity to work on your narration skills in a group setting. Sean will provide you with various books/genres to work with and give feedback as well as insights into working as an audiobook narrator. If you’re looking to hone your skills or just want to see if audiobook narration is something you want to pursue, this class will give you an opportunity to have fun doing it. Topics that Sean may cover include: how to differentiate character voices from narrative; recognizing and interpreting the author’s voice; the demands of different book genres; research.

WHY: “Tell Me A Story”… sounds sort of soothing, right? I mean, I’ve done 40-odd plays, read all 7 Harry Potters to my kids (with accents), listened to scores of audiobooks – how hard could it be? Don’t be fooled… this is a workout. In this small, intensive, practical session, Sean dives right in, explaining vocal techniques using metaphors from music, classical theater training and other disciplines, and then hones straight in on areas where his students need them most.

He reads examples from some of the hundreds of books he’s narrated, but the focus is on making the participants stretch their vocal equipment. Possibly the most interesting part of the class was the challenges of non-fiction narration (but fiction was the most fun). I will definitely be going back for more – but this time I’ll be bringing honey tea…or maybe whiskey! –Jennifer Georgia

WHEN: Tuesday, May 22nd 2012 – From 7PM to 10PM…doors open at 6:30

WHERE: The Actors’ Center, Universalist National Memorial Church, 1810 16th St. NW (corner of 16th & S) in the upstairs office. Rush hour parking restrictions end at 6:30pm. We’re also near the Dupont Circle Metro and the U Street/Cardozo Metro.

HOW:
•	$75 – By check or Pay Pal
•	$50 – for members of the following groups: AEA, SAG, AFTRA, TIVA, WIFV, Actors’ Center.
•	$40 – For any returning actor who has taken this class previously!
•	Class size is limited to EIGHT actors, only!
•	To RSVP please contact – seanpratt@comcast.net. Please put “March 27th Class” in the subject line and tell me if you’re a member of one of the discount groups.

WHAT: Sean Pratt Presents, “Tell Me a Story” on Tuesday, March 27th, a class focusing on Audiobook Narration Technique.

WHEN: Tuesday, March 27th 2012 – From 7PM to 10PM…doors open at 6:30
